Big A, little a what starts with A!? Little Allie Alpaca! This little sweetie is stitched on 26 count Traditional Groundcloth. She is 65 by 65 stitches and stitched on the suggested cloth measures 5” x 5”. You can finish her as a small wall hanging using a fun coordinating fabric, as part of a block or save up the entire collection and make a little book!
Traditional Groundcloth is a 100% cotton, 26 count (13 sts to the inch over two threads) fabric and is a modern reproduction of the traditional handwoven fabric that is most common to Greek folk embroidery. Imported by Krista West of Avlea Folk Embroidery it has a lovely, soft hand, which is very satisfying to work with. Its warm ivory color looks great with lots of colors of floss. You can purchase this beautiful cloth from Avlea Folk Embroidery (www.avleaembroidery.com).
Any neutral colored evenweave or linen fabric would work for the whole Animal Alphabet Series but I hope you will give Traditional Groundcloth a try!
